The Backyard at Eastside Village is reopening under a new vision—expanding beyond the yard to include an interior dining and lounge experience.

The Backyard, Thoughtfully Expanded

In every culture, stories have been built around fire.
Long before people wrote anything down, they gathered where fire made it possible to stay. It gave warmth, light, and time — enough of all three for people to stop moving and start talking.

Over time, fire became more than survival. It became craft, industry, progress. Myths formed to explain its power. Civilizations rose on what fire made possible. Eventually, it moved behind walls and into systems, doing its work quietly in the background.
We didn’t lose fire. We lost the habit of gathering around it.

The Backyard is built on that return — not to the past, but to the conditions that made connection inevitable. Shared heat. Shared time. A reason to stand close, wait, and talk.
Stories have always been built around fire.
This is simply another place to gather.

Eastside Village brings together a group of independent, locally driven concepts at the corner of Richland Avenue and Horry Street.
Grab coffee at The Parlour, a bottle at Solo Vino—both open now—and soon, gather again at The Backyard as the campus continues to grow.
